Jiwe Adventure used to arrange numerous treks to Kilimanjaro when we were a travel company, and the Rongai Route used to be the most popular one as it’s the easiest of treks and you stay overnight in huts instead of camping.

Without a doubt, Kilimanjaro is one of the most challenging climbs, which as "Kili" is the highest mountain in Africa at 5,895 meters, it’s no real surprise. Training for such a trek is essential, as is proper Travel Insurance. The vast majority of travel insurances won’t permit trekking over 4,000 meters, but with our insurance, if you take out the "Adventure Pack" when you apply for your insurance, you are covered for trekking Kilimanjaro, so you can reach Uhuru Peak in total confidence you have the right cover, and at the right price!

Kilimanjaro is the only trek over 4,600 meters that is included within the Adventure activity pack, due to the fact the treks are so well organized. If you are trekking any other route which reaches an altitude over 4,600 meters, you must select the Extreme activity pack when you take out cover.

There is now a high-altitude helicopter based at Moshi Airport, close to Kilimanjaro, run by an organization called Kilimanjaro SAR, so in the event of a serious injury requiring immediate evacuation, your guide may call out this aircraft for assistance.
